ASSAR Mobile Office expands inclusive access to rural investors
KUCHING: The Amanah Saham Sarawak (ASSAR) Mobile Office serves as a crucial platform to engage investors, particularly those in rural communities, by providing more inclusive and people-friendly access to financial services.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the initiative plays an important role in expanding ASSAR’s reach and ensuring it remains relevant and accessible to the people.
“With the launch of the ASSAR Mobile Office, I believe the team is now better equipped to deliver more proactive and efficient services.
“More people will now be able to access investment information and services related to ASSAR funds without needing to travel all the way to ASSAR’s only official office in Kuching.
“I hope this initiative will continue and be expanded. We want to see more innovation in how services are delivered, especially in rural areas, so that they are more inclusive, people-friendly and efficient,” he said during the launch of the mobile office held in conjunction with the announcement of ASSAR’s dividend at Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) today.
Abang Johari noted that Sarawak is currently undertaking major road development, particularly in coastal areas, in addition to the Pan Borneo Highway.
“With the extensive network of bridges and roads being built under the Sarawak coastal road project, the ASSAR Mobile Office is well-positioned to meet the needs of investors and rural residents.
“With increased investments, we can further expand our economy and boost sectors that provide returns to investors, including agriculture and the upcoming ‘waste-to-energy’ initiative.
“The phrase ‘don’t waste the waste, utilise the waste’ reflects our commitment to developing a new economic management model based on Sarawak’s unique strengths,” he said.
Abang Johari said that ASSAR has undergone a comprehensive restructuring phase, describing it as a challenging but necessary move to balance fund risks, preserve the value of unit holders’ investments, and ensure sustainable income generation in the long term.
“These efforts have borne fruit, and ASSAR has successfully distributed dividends three times in a row, every six months, starting from January 2024.
“Collectively, the total dividend distribution after the restructuring has reached RM42.33 million.
“This is a proud achievement and a testament to prudent and forward-looking investment management,” he said.
He also urged all Sarawakians to support the investment products and initiatives offered by ASSAR, as a shared effort in building a more sustainable financial future.
“As an institution established in the interest of Sarawak’s people, ASSAR deserves our continued trust and confidence,” he added.
