External Fund Manager

Background Information

With effect from 21 October 2022, ASSB has appointed AHAM Asset Management Bhd (“AHAM”), a licensed fund manager under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, as the External Fund Manager for the Fund. 

As the External Fund Manager, AHAM is responsible for providing investment management services to the Fund in accordance with the investment management agreement. AHAM reports to the Investment Committee of ASSB on a regular basis with regard to the performance of the portfolio and its investment strategies. AHAM is entitled to an annual management fee and this fee shall be borne by ASSB. 

AHAM has more than twenty (20) years of experience in providing fund management services and as at 31 March 2025, AHAM manages funds totaling RM87.85 billion with 32% in equities, 23% in fixed income, 10% in mixed assets, 30% in cash management solutions and 5% in other assets.
 

Designated Person Responsible for Management of the Fund

David Loh, Associate Director

David Loh joined AHAM Asset Management in 2015 and has more than 15 years of experience in the investment industry. At AHAM, he manages a diverse range of domestic portfolios, serving clients such as pension funds, insurance companies, high-net-worth individuals, and retail unit trusts. Before joining AHAM, David held research positions at UOB Kay Hian and Public Mutual Berhad, where he focused on multiple sectors across regional markets.

David is an ACCA Affiliate and holds a Master's in Accounting and Finance from Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
 

Muhd Taufiq Saifuddin, Senior Portfolio Manager

Taufiq joined AIIMAN Asset Management in July 2017 and was transferred to AHAM Asset Management in December 2021. He has over 15 years of investment experience. Taufiq’s current responsibilities include managing unit trust funds and institutional fixed income discretionary portfolios, predominantly for Government-Linked Investment Companies clients. In addition, Taufiq covers Malaysia macroeconomics and Malaysia financials sector. Prior to AHAM, Taufiq was with Etiqa Insurance & Takaful for 6 years where he was responsible for managing the proprietary and investment-linked funds of the takaful operator.  He started his career in RAM Ratings Services Sdn Bhd under the Financial Institution team, specializing in Development Financial Institutions and Islamic banks. Taufiq is recognised by The Asset, as one of the most astute investors in Malaysian Ringgit Bonds over the past few years. 

Taufiq graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) and is a holder of Persatuan Kewangan Malaysia Certificate.
