Investment Committee

The present composition of the Investment Committee is as follows:

Date of appointment: 18 January 2000 Datu Haji Soedirman Bin Haji Aini was appointed as a Director of Permodalan ASSAR Sdn Bhd since January 31, 2012. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom (FCCA) and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He has attended the Macro Economic Policy and Management Program at Harvard University. He started his career with Petronas in 1982 where he had served in the Economic and Investment Evaluation Department, Corporate Planning Division and in its subsidiary company, ASEAN Bintulu Fertilizer Sdn Bhd. After serving 13 years with Petronas, he resigned in 1995 to join the Sarawak State Government. Prior to his retirement with the State Government in January 2019, he held the position of the General Manager of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). His previous employment in the Sarawak Civil Service includes being the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Social Development, Director of State Implementation Monitoring Unit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industrial Development, Deputy State Financial Secretary and State Accountant-General. Between November 2002 and September 2003, he was seconded to Amanah Saham Sarawak Berhad as its Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure with the Sarawak Government, he served on the Boards of Malaysia LNG Tiga Sdn. Bhd. and Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA). Datu Haji Soedirman is currently a director of Permodalan Nasional Berhad and sits on the Board of various Government-Linked Companies and Non-Governmental Organisations.

Date of appointment: 31 October 2017 Datu Hasmawati Binti Sapawi was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director of ASSB on 31 October 2017. She holds Bachelor of Arts (Hons, Economics) Canada, a Master of Business Administration, Australia and a Master of Environmental Management (Development Planning), Malaysia. She started her career as an Economist in the Investment Division at Land Custody & Development Authority in November 1992 and as Senior Manager (Corporate Planning) in Pelita Holdings Sdn Bhd. in January 2002 before joining the State Financial Secretary's Office in January 2006. Presently she is holding the post of Deputy State Financial Secretary. Prior to that, she served as the Director of the Corporate Services & Investment Division at the State Financial Secretary Office (Sarawak) handling corporate finance and investment activities. She sits on the board of several state government-linked companies.

Date of appointment: 1 May 2022 YA Dato Sri Saferi Bin Ali was appointed on 7th September 2023 as the State Attorney-General of Sarawak. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Second Class (Upper) Honours from International Islamic University of Malaysia. Prior to his appointment as the State Attorney-General, he has held the post as the Deputy State Attorney General since 2017. In the course of his duties, Dato Sri Saferi represents for and on behalf of the State Government of Sarawak in the lower courts, High Courts and the Appellate Courts. He was also appointed as Deputy Public Prosecutor since 1st March 2016 by the Federal Attorney General, Malaysia. Currently, he sits as a Member of Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund (SSWFF), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), Sarawak Islamic Council, State Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB). In recognition of his exemplary service, he was awarded Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) by the State Government.

Date of appointment: 1 July 2022 YBhg. Datin Josephine Anak Hilary Dom graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from Universiti Malaya and commenced her professional journey as an Assessment Officer in the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), Kuching. Her role in IRB progressed steadily to the last position she held which was State Director Sarawak of IRB. She has attended the Senior Management Development Program under Harvard Business School Alumini Malaysia and Land Taxation at Taoyuan Land Institute, Taiwan. She was the Malaysian representative to deliver presentations on taxation at prominent international conferences. She currently sits as a Non-Executive and Independent Board member of Public Listed and Public Companies including Asteel Sdn Bhd and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS).

Frequency of Investment Committee Meeting:

Reporting directly to the board of directors, the investment committee's main responsibility is to oversee and draw up broad policies for the fund management activities of the Fund. The members of the investment committee (“the Committee”) meet regularly, at least once every two (2) months to review the Fund's investment portfolio to ensure that all statutory guidelines relating to investment by unit trust funds are complied with.
